I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun on it. Take it easy until it's broken in and spend some 'empty parking lot' time on it getting to learn how to handle it. I highly recommend the burgmanusa forums for any questions you may have about it.
Lots of smiles ahead! Richard |

If I'm a little vague here it's because Its kinda late for me and I'm tired but here a few things off the top of my head...
Just put in your miles and try to keep it under the rpm limit per the owners manual. (I regularly exceeded that limit since you stand a chance of getting running over by an suv if you really kept to that limit.) Check your tire pressures regularly and make sure they are at or slightly above the recommendations in your owner's manual. Oh, and take it easy on the brakes during break-in. The first oil and filter change is the critical one. You'll have to order a filter and the 2 o-rings you need since most dealers don't seem to stock them. If you let the dealer do the change, you may have to wait a day or two for them to get the parts. Its pretty easy to do it yourself but it is a little messy (as with any oil change). I have over 11K on my scoot now and she's still running well consuming no oil but I did recently replace my tires. There is at least one other Burgman owner in the club an he would make another good resource for you. He and I have customized our bikes (no chrome, though) to fit our needs and be more comfortable. For the time being, concentrate on learning to ride it well and breaking it in. I was impatient and wound up buying stuff I really didn't need. If you are going to buy anything now, concentrate on safety gear. I'm not sure what your previous rides were but this will cruise very nicely about 70 mph and run up to 95 mph. You don't want to compromise your safety at those speeds. Richard Edited by Richard on Aug 14, 2009 10:35 PM |

Glad to see another Burgman 400. I love mine! Watch out for the 1800 mile interval service on the cooling fan filter also. I have a service manual if you want to take a look at it. I do recommend doing something with the windscreen for most riders who want to ride over 75mph. Enjoy!
